Procedures and Rules:

  • Prizes will be awarded to the top map(s) based on cartographic design and aesthetics.
  • All map authors MUST print out their own map and bring it on the event day.
  • Houston Area GIS Planning Committee will display your map for all attendees to view on GIS day.
  • Houston Area GIS Planning Committee will evaluate maps.
  • The 1st place will receive a $200 prize, 2nd will receive $100, and 3rd place will receive a $50 prize.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Document Type: 1 printed map
  • Language: English
  • Citation: Data Source
  • Topic: Relevant to Houston-Galveston Region
  • Map Dimension: 24 X 36 inches (ARCH D – 609.6 X 914 millimeters)
  • Map Description: Cartographer’s name, opinion, and purpose for creating the map
